YORK, Pa. (February 17, 2024) – Senior #13/7 Stefan Major recorded his 100th career win as the No. 10/9 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team defeated York 43-3 Saturday afternoon. 

Major picked up his 100th career victory by pinning his opponent in 2:04. Nine Ducks picked up victories on the day, including two by forfeit. The Ducks lost the opening match of the dual, but won the final nine to complete the blowout.

Along with Major, senior #10/11 Joel Martsinovsky earned the other pin for Ducks, doing his in four minutes. Major's pin was his twelfth of the season, while Martsinovsky earned his sixth.

This was the sixth meeting between the two programs. The Ducks are now 4-2 all-time against the Spartans. Stevens has also now won the last four duals against York.

The Rundown

• Sophomore Vincent Principe lost his matchup at 125 to get the day started. He lost an 8-6 decision to Jacob Kresicki as York took the early 3-0 lead. From there, the Ducks took control, as senior Andrew Finateri earned a 16-5 major at 133 against Daniel Bera. Sophomore #15/11 Nico Diaz earned the Ducks' first tech fall of the day at 141 by beating Bryan Diaz 19-4. First-year Carmen Cortese then picked up a forfeit victory at 149 as the Ducks led 15-3.
• Sophomore #4/6 Ryan Smith picked up a major and junior Chris Stathopoulos picked up a decision win to follow for the Ducks following the forfeit. At 157, Smith took down Wyatt Patzke 23-15. At 165, Stathopoulos beat Justice Hockenberry 9-5.
• Major and Martsinovsky then gained back-to-back fall victories for the Ducks. This gave Stevens a 33-3 advantage,
• Junior Blaise Wagner then won via forfeit at 197. To cap off the day, junior Max Ruiz beat Derek Martin via a 4-1 decision at 285.

Top Performers

• Major earned his team-leading 12th pin of the season. Martsinovksy earned his sixth.
• The 42 points are the second-most for the Ducks in a dual this season. They recorded a 50-0 shutout over NJCU earlier in the season.
• Diaz earned his 10th tech fall of the year.

For the Opponents

• Jacob Kresicki picked up the only win for the Spartans.
