SWARTHMORE, Pa. (March 1, 2024) – Junior Vivek Harinarayan picked up two wins on the day, but it wasn't enough as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team fell to No. 22 Carnegie Mellon 5-4 Friday afternoon. The match was played on the campus of Swarthmore.
The two teams were neck and neck, with the final singles match being the deciding factor on the result.
Carnegie Mellon led 2-1 after doubles. The lone victory for the Ducks came from Harinarayan and senior Aashi Kulakarni, as they won 8-7 on the second line. The final point went to a 26-point tiebreak, with the Ducks securing the 14-12 victory.
On the singles side, junior Vivek Harinarayan picked up a three set win on line two for his second victory of the day. Junior Sebastian Wroe and sophomore Max-William Kanz each earned two-set victories for the Ducks. Their wins came on row four and five respectively.
With the loss, Stevens falls to 1-3 on the season. The Ducks are now 0-3 all-time against the Tartans, with each match being played at a neutral site.
