HAVERFORD, Pa. (March 29, 2024) – Sophomore Max-William Kanz and first-year Samvid Andhare each picked up two wins as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team defeated No. 46 Haverford 5-4 Friday afternoon.
The ranked victory was the first for Stevens this season and the first since February 25 of last season, when the Ducks also took down the Fords.
Stevens took the early lead as the Ducks picked up two wins on the doubles side. After the Ducks lost on the first line, junior Vivek Harinarayan and senior Aashi Kulakrni won on line two. Andhare and Kanz would then pick up a big 8-2 win on the third line.
Despite the Fords winning the three singles matches on the third line, Stevens showed its depth by winning on the final three lines. Kanz won on line four in two sets, with the second set ending in a tiebreaker. Persson won in three sets on line five. Andhare clinched the match for the Ducks, as he picked up a three set comeback win.
With the win, Stevens improves to 4-4 and has now won three-straight matches. The Ducks are now 7-6 all-time against the Fords. Haverford fell to 5-4.
