BAYONNE, N.J. (April 13, 2023) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team won all six singles matches en route to a 7-2 victory over Lebanon Valley in a MAC Freedom match Saturday afternoon at the Bayonne Tennis Courts.
Stevens improves to 7-5 and 2-0 in MAC Freedom play with the victory. The Ducks are on their longest winning streak of the season, having won the last four matches. This was the first-ever matchup between the teams. Lebanon Valley falls to 13-1 with the loss.
The Ducks fell behind early on as they lost two of the three matches on doubles. Sophomore Anya Sharma and first-year Lorena Piegas picked up the win for Stevens on the third line, as they beat their opponents 8-2.
Needing to mount a comeback, Stevens claimed all six singles matches to propel them to victory. Five of the matches finished in straight sets. First-year Julia Chiovitti edged out the only match that lasted three sets, as she beat her opponent 10-6 in the third set tiebreaker.
