BAYONNE, N.J. (April 16, 2023) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team lost just eight games as they won 9-0 over FDU-Florham in a MAC Freedom match Tuesday afternoon at the Bayonne Tennis Courts.
Stevens improves to 8-5 and 3-0 in MAC Freedom play with the victory. The Ducks are on their longest winning streak of the season, having won their last five matches. The Ducks are 9-1 all-time against the Devils, including winning the last nine matches. FDU-Florham falls to 0-5 and 0-4 in MAC Freedom play in the loss.
The Ducks jumped on the Devils from the early onset, losing just three games in doubles en route to a 3-0 lead. On the third line, junior Isabella Dona and sophomore Aliona Heitz swept their opponents, winning 8-0. Junior Emma Eguia and sophomore Stephanie Untermeyer lost just one game on the second line, as they won 8-1.
Already in control, Stevens took all six singles matches in two sets to claim the 9-0 victory. Heitz and first-year Lorena Piegas didn't lose one game in their respective matches, as they defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Dona, Untermeyer, and first-year Julia Chiovitti each lost just one game in their singles matches.
