HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 18, 2024) - The Stevens Institute of Technology Athletic programs has four teams ranked in the latest round of Division III national rankings, as well as five teams and three individuals ranked in the NCAA Division III Regional Rankings.
Men's volleyball qualified for the NCAA Tournament and will be hosting one of the four regional pods this weekend. The Ducks will host Hiram College at 4 p.m. on Friday night. Springfield and Juniata will play in the other Friday match at 6:30 p.m., with the winners of each game meeting at 6 p.m. on Saturday inside Canavan Arena.
Men's lacrosse moves up to No. 13 in the USILA poll and No. 12 in the Inside Lacrosse poll. The Ducks were also listed as one of the seven teams in Region III in the first round of NCAA Regional Rankings. The Ducks are rolling in MAC Freedom play, as they have not dropped a contest yet. The team will visit Arcadia on Saturday.
Women's lacrosse moved up to No. 12 in their latest poll and they also find themselves ranked in the first round of the NCAA Regional Rankings. Like the men's team, the Ducks are perfect in MAC Freedom play. The women's team also is a perfect 7-0 in home games this season. The Ducks will have a chance to add to both tallies as they host Arcadia on Saturday.
Men's tennis moves up to No. 42Â in the ITA poll and the Ducks are one of the seven teams regionally ranked in Region III. In addition, senior Aashi Kulakarni is regionally ranked as an individual, while junior Vivek Harinarayan is under consideration. The Ducks remain perfect in MAC Freedom play having swept both of their opponents since the last report. Stevens will visit DeSales on Saturday for another conference match.
Despite not being ranked in the ITA poll, women's tennis finds themselves ranked in Region III in the first round of NCAA Regional Rankings. In addition, first-year Alix Dry is under consideration to be ranked as an individual. Like the men's team, the Ducks are perfect in MAC Freedom play, and have another opportunity this Saturday as they visit DeSales.
Baseball is receiving no votes in either of their polls despite going 3-1 since the last report. The Ducks won a pivotal series 2-1 against MAC Freedom foe DeSales, while also picking up a non-conference victory over Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday night. Stevens currently sits in third place in the MAC Freedom standings with just two series left. The Ducks will play FDU-Florham three times this weekend, and then play host to Penn-State Harrisburg on Sunday.
For men's and women's outdoor track and field regional polls, the men are ranked fifth while the women move up to sixth. Stevens is back in action this weekend as they will compete at the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University on Friday and Saturday.
Senior Gus Vickers took home the crown in the Garden State Collegiate Classic weekend for men's golf. It was the first win of the spring for Vickers. The Ducks found themselves ranked in this weeks NCAA Regional Rankings, as they were one of the seven teams listed in Region II. The men's golf team remains not ranked inside the top 25 in either of their polls, but will have multiple opportunities this weekend, including the Conquer the Island Tournament taking place today.
Softball remains unranked in 2024. The Ducks are coming off a split with Drew yesterday afternoon. Stevens currently sits in fifth place in the MAC Freedom standings, with just two more MAC Freedom doubleheaders remaining. The Ducks will host FDU-Florham this weekend as they celebrate senior day.
The national polls for the in season sports consist of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for men's and women's track and field, the American Volleyball Coaches Association for men's volleyball, the National FastPitch Coaches Association for softball, d3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association for baseball, the International Tennis Association for men's and women's tennis, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association for men's lacrosse, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association for women's lacrosse, as well as Inside Lacrosse for both men's and women's lacrosse, along with the Golf Coaches Association of America and Spikemark for golf.
