Women's Tennis Blanks King's 8-0

The Ducks will take on #4 Arcadia on Tuesday in the MAC Freedom semifinals.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (April 27, 2023) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team continued their hot streak as they shut out King's 8-0 Saturday afternoon. Play was halted early due to rain.

Stevens had already wrapped up home court for the MAC Freedom tournament prior to this game. The Ducks (11-5, 6-0 MAC Freedom) are on their longest winning streak of the season, having won their last eight matches. The Ducks are now 4-0 all-time against the Monarchs. King's falls to 4-10 and 1-5 in MAC Freedom play in the loss.

The match started with singles rather than the usual doubles. That would be no problem for the Ducks as they took all six matches in straight sets. Sophomore Anya Sharma won handedly on the fifth line, taking her match 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Stephanie Untermeyer and first-year Lorena Piegas were also dominant, losing just one game each in their respective matches.

With the match already in hand, Stevens took the two doubles matches that finished. Sharma and sophomore Fionna Flores took an 8-1 win on the second line, while Piegas and senior Polina Odintseva narrowly won 8-7 on line one.
