BRONX, N.Y. (April 7, 2024) – Junior Vivek Harinarayan clinched the winning point on singles for the Ducks as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team came back to defeat New York University (NYU) 5-4 Sunday afternoon.

Stevens would trail early in the match 2-1 after doubles play. The Ducks struggled on the top two lines, but first-year Samvid Andhare and sophomore Max-William Kanz picked up an 8-4 win on the third line as the Ducks avoided the sweep.

As singles play progressed, the Ducks kept themselves in it, as the two teams both had two two-set wins to make the score 4-3 Violets. After senior Andrew He went up one set in his match, he dropped the second set, but responded with a 6-4 third set victory to tie up the match. On line two, Harinarayan went down 7-5 to open up his match, but the junior stormed back to win 7-5 and 6-4 in the final two sets as the Ducks came back to earn the victory.

Stevens (6-5) completes a perfect weekend as they previously took down Misericordia yesterday. The Ducks won 14-4 on aggregate over their two opponents. With the win, Stevens improves to 9-5 against the Violets, including winning the last five matches, which have all come since 2018. NYU drops to 2-4 with the loss.
