HOBOKEN, N.J. (August 27, 2024) – Stevens Institute of Technology Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Russ Rogers announced Tuesday that Patrick Duffy has been hired as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. Duffy most recently served as Sports Information Coordinator at Montclair State University.
Duffy started his previous role at Montclair State in 2019. While there, he was the primary contact for all 18 of the Red Hawks' sports, while assisting with gameday operations. He helped develop new pre game and post game recap templates, as well as assisting the Communications Coordinator with in-house photo and video shoots. Duffy also helped facilitate the redesign of the Montclair State Athletics website.
"We are excited to welcome Patrick back to Castle Point!" Rogers said. "Patrick brings a high level of positive energy to his work and is always well prepared. He had a very meaningful impact on the athletic communications office during his first tenure at Stevens in an assistant role and is the ideal choice to now lead our operations in this area. With his extensive background, Patrick truly understands the role that athletic communications plays in the experience of our student-athletes, and I am confident that Stevens Athletics will continue to thrive under his leadership."
Prior to his role at Montclair State, Duffy spent three years as the Sports Information Coordinator at FDU-Florham. He served as the primary contact for all 19 varsity sports, as well as overseeing 20+ student workers.
"I'm happy to return to Stevens as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications," Duffy said. "I would like to thank Russell Rogers and Search Committee for selecting me, and would like to extend my gratitude to Rob Chesney and the entire team at Montclair State University for a great five years. I would like to recognize Mike Scala and Roger Kindel, who's mentorship and guidance has allowed me to assume the role of this new position. Although no longer with us, their impact on me has been constant and has shaped who I am as a person. I am really excited to be able to promote Stevens and the student-athletes, and look forward to continuing to watch our teams compete for conference and National Championships."
Duffy makes his return to Hoboken as he previously served as the Assistant Sports Information Director from January 2015-October 2016. He was the primary contact for 14 of the 26 varsity sports Stevens had to offer, as well as being the contact for the 2015 Men's Volleyball National Champions. He was also the Tournament SID for the 2015 Men's Volleyball Championship.
