Men's Soccer Draws With Denison 0-0

Granville, Ohio – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw with Denison in their season opener on Friday evening.

Goalkeeper Guillermo Castaneda-Chang made a pair of saves in his Stevens (0-0-1) debut.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither side could break early in the game, as the two teams combined for just six shots and none on target in the opening 45 minutes. The Ducks first opportunity came in the 14th minute, with Brian Babovic knocking a try wide of the frame.

Max Rokshar had the other shot of the period for Stevens, with his attempt in the 30th minute also going right of the net. Neither team was able to generate much offense over the final 15 minutes of action in the first stanza, and they entered halftime deadlocked at zero,

Denison held a slim 4-2 margin in shots in the first half, with neither keeper making a save.

Castenda-Chang was pressed into his first action in the 51st minute, denying Jake Kruger. Stevens pressed, as Adam Berrocal's shot in the 58th minute was rejected, and John Kovalchuk had a trysail high in the 60th minute. As time continued to tick away, both Castenda-Chang and Denison keeper Tommy Prokos turned tries away in the final 10 minutes.

Prokos shut down an attempt from Rokshar in the 82nd minute before Castenda-Chang turned away Kameron Kist's shot in the 87th minute. Kist had one additional chance with 35 seconds left, but it was wide of the frame, and the two sides drew 0-0.
