Women's Volleyball Upends Albion In Straight Sets

Virginia Beach, Va. – Junior Vivian Lisboa tallied 11 kills, and Molly Harris handed out 38 assists as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team opened their trip to Virginia with a three-set win over Albion College.

The Ducks (11-2) topped Albion (2-14) 25-18, 25-19, 25-15.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks opened the match with the first four points, as Bailey Axelrad added consecutive aces during the run. The Britons closed to within two at 11-9, but Lisboa and Cleo Shannon put down kills to extend the gap back to four. An 8-2 spurt from Stevens saw three different student-athletes notch kills as Paulina Miller delivered two aces. Albion drew within six after a 4-1 run, with Parker Adkins slamming home a Harris set to clinch set one.

The Britons inched in front 7-6 on an attack error, and after Stevens netted three points, Albion went back up two on a 6-2 run. Adkins halted the run with a kill, and a Lisboa kill, coupled with an unforced attack error, tied the frame at 16. After ties at 16, 17, 18, and 19, the Ducks put the period on ice with the final seven markers. During the run, Lisboa notched three kills while Adkins added two.


Stevens jumped out with an 8-2 lead in the final frame, with Maggio registering two kills. The Britons got within four, but Stevens opened the scoring up with nine of the following 10 points. Adkins closed out the rally with an ace, as Shannon put away three kills. Stevens closed 
out the match with two of the final three markers, as Albion missed a pair of serves late to give the Ducks the victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Lisboa hit .769 (11-1-13), which marked the highest of her career.
• Maggio chipped in nine kills, as Dion had eight with no errors. 
• For the match, Stevens hit at a .306 clip (46-13-108), their third-highest of the Stevens
• Axelrad paced the defense with 18 digs while adding three aces.

UP NEXT
The Ducks face a pair of teams receiving votes in this weeks AVCA Top-25 Poll. They will battle Christopher Newport University at 11 am before taking on host Virginia Wesleyan University at 3 pm.
