Samvid Andhare went 3-0 on Saturday to help the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team close out the ITA Atlantic South Regional Championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Competing in the B2 Flight, Andhare advanced to the semifinals with a pair of victories on Saturday. He took down Shine Tokas of Shenandoah 8-5 in the opening round before knocking off Braden Chavez of Carnegie Mellon 8-6. He closed out his run by dispatching Albert Vladimirskiy of Mary Washington.
Mihir Parcha was victorious 8-6 in his opening match at B1 and punched his ticket to semifinals with a victory over Gurv Suri of Salisbury. Matthew Luzzi was knocked off in his opening battle, falling 8-2 to Fernando Limon of Carnegie Mellon. In the consolation round, Luzzi earned a bye into the semifinals via a walkover..
Noah Pe and
Aidan Miller competed in the B3 flight but dropped their opening-round match. Pe was topped 8-5 by Haverford's Owen Kilmer as Miller fell 8-2 to James Kurani of Washington & Lee.
In doubles, Parcha and Miller fell 6-4 to Roanoke in the Championship Consolation flight.
Dhaivik Chenemilla and
Johnny Haase fell 6-1 to Johns Hopkins in the Round of 16 in the B1 doubles flight before dropping a 6-3 decision to Haverford in the consolation round. Pe and
Tristan Wroe also competed in the B1 doubles flight but were knocked off 6-4 by Christopher Newport. In the consolation round, Haverford bested them 6-1.
