Men's Soccer Ties Milwaukee School Of Engineering, 1-1

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team battled the Milwaukee School of Engineering to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon.

Terry Thompson netted the lone goal for the Ducks (1-1-2) as Grant Glorioso scored for MSOE (0-1-3).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks pressed early, forcing the MSOE goalkeeper into several saves. Luca Campbell was denied in the eighth minute before Adam Berrocal and Brian Babovic were turned away in the 10th and 16th, respectively. The Stevens defense was the highlight in the first half, holding the Raiders to just two shots and none in the first 29 minutes.

Stevens hunted for the opening marker, with Matthew Murillo firing wide in the 34th minute and Martin Fields putting one off-target off a set piece. The Ducks were awarded a corner kick after a deep shot from Berrocal was tipped away by a sprawling keeper. Off the corner, Dylan Maund sent the kick into the box, where Thompson was able to head the ball past Asher Harris, giving the Ducks the 1-0 lead.

The visitors leveled the game in the 63rd minute, as Glorioso tapped in a low cross from Nico Picha. The two teams battled, and the Panthers nearly gained their first lead of the game in the 69th minute. Picha sent in a corner, and Alex Lamb redirected the serve off the crossbar. The ball ricocheted down, and the Ducks cleared it off the line. 11 minutes later, Joey Loduca had his try nearly cross the goal line, but Stevens got a foot on the ball just before it crossed to keep the score tied. Neither team put an attempt on frame for the remainder of the match as it ended 1-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Maund has assists in consecutive games and equaled his career total coming into this season.
• Thompson registered his third career goal after scoring twice last season. The Weehawken, N.J. native tallied two goals in the 4-1 victory over Misericordia in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Semifinals on November 1, 2023.

FROM THE FIELD
"Mixed emotions after this game today - we created enough chances to win it but then we could have lost too! Credit to MSOE for causing us plenty of tactical problems. Great learning for our group today and we go again!" - Head Coach Dale Jordan.

UP NEXT
