Staten Island, N.Y. – Junior
Isabella Shanley demolished the program record in the 600 meters and multiple Stevens Institute of Technology women's track & field athletes set PRs during the Seahawk Shootout on Friday.
The event featured no team scoring and featured D-I, D-II and D-III competition from throughout the Northeast including Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, Wagner, New Haven, Howard, FDU, St. John's, Felician, and NJIT, among others.
INSIDE THE MEET
Shanley clocked 1:38.37 in the 600, knocking 4.07 seconds off the previous school mark of 1:42.44 set by Salme Cook on December 2, 2009. Also in the event,
Taylor Enes knocked two seconds off her previous PR, running 1:43.11, the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Senior
Lauren Alley ran 43.85 in the 300, a new personal best and fourth-fastest time in program history.
In the 1,000 meters, sophomore
Isabella Gabay ran 3:13.20, the first Duck to run under 3:15.00 in the event since 2016. Gabay's time was good for 8
th on the all-time program leaderboard.
In a shot put field that included seven Ducks, junior
Claire Deatrick threw 9.00 meters, 0.48 meters (about 18 inches) further than her previous PR set just last week at the Crowell Invitational.
First-year
Chelsea Baxter went 4.16 meters in the long jump, 0.11 meters (roughly 4.5 inches further) than her previous top mark also set last weekend at the Crowell Invite.
The weight throw saw two more PRs set for the second time in as many weeks. Junior
Breona Pizzuta, a week after reaching 10.90 meters, went 11.42 on Friday (just under two feet further). Classmate
Josephine Lulaj, went 10.09 meters on Friday after reaching 9.52 meters last weekend.

Both the women's and men's teams will return to official competition at the Alvernia Winter Invitational in Reading, Pa. on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
