Shanley's School Record 600 Meter Performance Leads Big Day For Women's Track And Field At Seahawk Shootout

Staten Island, N.Y. – Junior Isabella Shanley demolished the program record in the 600 meters and multiple Stevens Institute of Technology women's track & field athletes set PRs during the Seahawk Shootout on Friday.

The event featured no team scoring and featured D-I, D-II and D-III competition from throughout the Northeast including Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, Wagner, New Haven, Howard, FDU, St. John's, Felician, and NJIT, among others.

INSIDE THE MEET
Shanley clocked 1:38.37 in the 600, knocking 4.07 seconds off the previous school mark of 1:42.44 set by Salme Cook on December 2, 2009. Also in the event, Taylor Enes knocked two seconds off her previous PR, running 1:43.11, the fourth-fastest time in program history.

Senior Lauren Alley ran 43.85 in the 300, a new personal best and fourth-fastest time in program history.

In the 1,000 meters, sophomore Isabella Gabay ran 3:13.20, the first Duck to run under 3:15.00 in the event since 2016. Gabay's time was good for 8th on the all-time program leaderboard.

In a shot put field that included seven Ducks, junior Claire Deatrick threw 9.00 meters, 0.48 meters (about 18 inches) further than her previous PR set just last week at the Crowell Invitational.

First-year Chelsea Baxter went 4.16 meters in the long jump, 0.11 meters (roughly 4.5 inches further) than her previous top mark also set last weekend at the Crowell Invite.
