West Point, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's track and field team earned six Top 5 finishes in five events, including a win in the long jump, on Thursday at the West Point Twilight.
No team scores were kept and fellow competing institutions included but were not limited to D-1 members Yale, the host Black Knights, La Salle, Hofstra, as well as D-II' institutions Lock Haven, Southern Connecticut State, and Adelphi.
From the Track (and Field)
Maya Lapinski won the long jump with a top leap of 5.52 meters, besting her nearest two competitors (both from Army West Point) by at least 0.2 meters. The 5.52 mark also moved her from fifth to third all-time in program history.
Emily Laudman was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, behind only an Army West Point runner.
Catherine Bondi and
Kate Cen went 4-5 in the 5000 meters (2-3 among non D-1 runners), with Bondi edging Bondi at the line by 0.63 seconds following the 12.5 lap race.
In the pole vault,
Alexis Merola finished fourth, clearing 3.25 meters and
Stephanie Ryazanova took sixth, clearing 2.95 meters – the top three spots in the event were all occupied by Army West Point athletes.
In the high jump,
Maggie Previglian tied for fourth, clearing 1.55 meters. Two of the three competitors who finished ahead of her were from Army West Point.

In the final event before All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Championships (AARTFC) late next week, the Ducks will compete in the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday.
