Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swim team won 10 of the 14 events en route to a 171-88 triumph over the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay as
Paige Bleckley,
Eszter Kiss,
Natalia Brunetti, and
Delaney Klaus combined for a time of 1:54.01. Stevens also placed third with
Abigail Rosingana,
Adriana Bertolotti,
Ashley Settle, and
Gabby Sokolik at 1:58.21, while
Sydney Lanager,
Emery Fitzharris,
Samantha Gallo, and
Megan Koek added a 2:02.91.
Dora Dvorkin set the tone individually by winning the 1000 freestyle in 11:20.47, followed closely by teammates
Julia McKinley in 11:45.60 and Rosingana in 11:46.70.
Kiss returned to win the 200 freestyle in 1:59.66, with Sokolik finishing in 2:06.20 and Koek in 2:08.28. Brunetti controlled the 100 backstroke in 1:03.97 with Bleckley at 1:06.53 and Lanager at 1:08.64, while Bertolotti, Fitzharris, and Allie Halverson earned key points in the 100 breaststroke with times of 1:11.57, 1:15.92, and 1:19.89, respectively.
The Ducks dominated the 200 butterfly as
Hanna Matheson won in 2:16.40,
Gabby Tyer followed in 2:21.93, and
Anjali Gupta contributed a 2:37.77. In the 50 freestyle, Klaus sprinted to a winning 24.81, Settle added a 26.37, and
Hailey Gillett posted a 29.21. Klaus completed the sprint sweep by winning the 100 freestyle in 55.36, with Gallo touching in 57.60 and Sokolik in 58.66. Brunetti, Lanager, and Koek produced a strong trio of finishes in the 200 backstroke at 2:20.07, 2:27.06, and 2:29.48. Stevens then placed three more in the 200 breaststroke with Dvorkin at 2:40.88, Fitzharris at 2:42.27, and Bertolotti at 2:45.61. Kiss later added another victory in the 500 freestyle with a 5:28.37, supported by McKinley at 5:44.50 and Rosingana at 5:49.58.
Gallo and Settle secured the top two spots in the 100 butterfly with times of 1:03.00 and 1:03.77. Matheson and Tyer returned to place second and third in the 200 IM with times of 2:20.82 and 2:22.54, while Halverson finished in 2:34.14. Stevens closed the meet with a commanding win in the 400 freestyle relay as Kiss, Brunetti, Gallo, and Klaus posted a 3:48.10, followed by the B relay of Koek, Bleckley, Sokolik, and Settle in 3:54.69.
