Women’s Swimming Open MAC Championships With Flurry of Season-Best Performances

Ducks 132.5 points clear of field through Day One

YORK, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team claimed a trio of top-three finishers across three 'A' finals and won the 200-yard medley relay, highlighting a strong first day of competition at the 2025 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships, hosted by York College of Pennsylvania.

As a team, the Ducks totaled 408.5 points over the first four events, well clear of Misericordia (276) and Messiah (233); Widener (176.5) and FDU-Florham (154) rounded out the top-five.

The evening began with the 500-yard freestyle, with Kylie Martinez, Dora Dvorkin, and Emery Fitzharris totaling 72 points in the 'A' final, Martinez taking third in the race, knocking more than six seconds off her time in the prelims. Gabby Tyer, Julia McKinley, and Abigail Rosingana went 1-2-4 in the 'B' final, picking up 51 more points for the Ducks in the process.

In the 200-yard individual medley 'A' final, Eszter Kiss nearly made up a 2.88 second deficit over the final 50, taking second just 0.83 seconds back of the event winner in 2:09.18, a new season-best, grabbing 28 more points for the Red and Gray. Sophie Patz and Hanna Matheson finished 6-7 in the event, totaling 47 points between them. The event 'B' final was highlighted by a win for Gabby Sokolik and a third-place finish for Rachel Merrifield, each setting new season-bests and earning 36 points for their collective efforts.

Delaney Klaus shaved 0.30 seconds off her best time of the year in the 50 free 'A' final, splashing and dashing home in 24.10 seconds, putting 32 more points on the board for Stevens. Kai Wong posted 24.83, finishing fifth for another 25 points.

The women capped their big day in style, turning a .33 second deficit at the 100-yard mark into a 1.56 second margin of victory in the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Wong, Adriana Bertolotti, Natalia Brunetti, and Klaus claiming another 64 points for the Ducks with a conference-championship record 1:46.09

Up Next: Second day competition begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. Three more individual champions will be crowned in the evening session, beginning at 5:30, between the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, and 200-yard freestyle, as well as the 200-yard freestyle relay.
