Jutras Sets School-Record in 800-Meter at BU Valentine Invitational

Boston, Mass. – Danny Jutras of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team set the school record in the 800-meter at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Friday.

The prestigious meet featured no team score and competition from Division I, Division II, and Division III schools, including Princeton, Oregon, Syracuse, and Johns Hopkins.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jutras set the mark early in the day, registering a new personal best time of 1:54.37, good for 113th place. His time broke Tom Selvaggi's previous best of 1:54.8, which was set on February 25, 2017. Jutras entered the meet with the ninth-best time in program history and ascended to the top spot today.

Ethan Stallone placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles, notching a finals time of 8.57. In addition to Stallone, the field featured three runners from Rowan University and two from Holy Cross. Stallone made the finals as he turned in the ninth-best time in the prelims, clocking in at 8.46.

The 4x400 relay team of Tyler Hackett, Enrico Parrella, Jutras, and Stallone took 36th, recording a time of 3:32.51. Hackett also competed in the 200, finishing 71st in 22.87. Ryan Paradine (4:25.05) and Jake Aylmer (4:29.85) ran in the mile, as Liam Concannon (8:38.89) closed out the competitors in the 3,000-meter.

The Ducks return to the track tomorrow, competing in the NYU Division III Invitational at 9 am.
