Baseball Falls at Ramapo in Midweek Affair

Mahwah, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team dropped a Tuesday matinee to Ramapo College, 6-1, on Tuesday afternoon.

The top three in the Stevens (3-7) lineup -- Victor Schilleci, Eli Somers, and Liam DeRubertis – finished a combined 5-for-10 with four walks. William Sotiropoulos, Dean Qira, Brady Solomon, and David Finch all threw a scoreless inning of relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks loaded the bases with one out in the first on a Schilleci walk, DeRubertis single, and Jack Reichlin hit by pitch, but a strikeout and fielder's choice kept Stevens off the scoreboard. After a scoreless first, Stevens starter Jordan Fisse conceded the first run of the game in the bottom of the second.

The Roadrunners added another run in the third, but the Ducks got it back in the fifth. With one out, Kieran O'Brien singled and Schilleci walked. Somers and DeRubertis each followed with singles to right, O'Brien coming in to score on DeRubertis' knock, but Schilleci was thrown out at the plate trying to score the tying run.

After a scoreless bottom five and top six, Ramapo (5-2) put four on the board in the bottom of the sixth, opening a five-run cushion. Stevens loaded the bases in the seventh and put two on with one out in the ninth but could not push runs across in either frame.
