Isabella Shanley and
Alexis Merola tallied first places finishes as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's track & field team finished third at the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday.
The Ducks totaled 81.5 team points, trailing just Widener (158) and Lebanon Valley (108.5) who notched the top-two spots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Shanley led the way with a first-place victory in the 400-meter dash, clocking an impressive 58.78, and later helped the 4x400 relay team, alongside
Lauren Alley,
Isabel Vogel, and
Anya Sadowski, to another first-place finish in 4:09.99. Merola also claimed gold in the pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters. Vogel had a strong showing in the 800-meter event, finishing fourth in 2:21.43, while the 4x800 relay team of
Allie Canciani,
Taylor Enes,
Isabella Gabay, and
Isabel Vogel placed fourth with a time of 10:11.12.
In distance events, Gabay placed eighth in the mile at 5:18.33, and
Kaitlyn Adams led the 3,000-meter squad with a 15th-place finish in 10:53.35. In the pentathlon,
Stephanie Ryazanova secured fourth place with 2,521 points and also placed eighth in the pole vault at 2.85 meters. Other notable performances included
Isabella Shanley's seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.80) and
Lauren Alley's 10th-place finish in the 400-meter (1:02.85).
