Ithaca, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's indoor track & field team competed in two events during the opening day of the AARTFC Indoor Championships on Friday.
The Ducks totaled four team points and are currently tied with Salisbury University for 22nd place. Through six events, SUNY Geneseo leads with 32 points, while Rowan and York (Pa.) are tied for second with 20.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks earned all four of their points in the distance medley relay, where they placed fifth. The quartet of
Ryan Paradine,
Mick Barbi, and
Enrico Parrella crossed the finish line in 10:24.5. They narrowly missed fourth place by just 0.35 seconds but held off sixth place by over three-tenths of a second.
Ethan Stallone was the Ducks' sole individual competitor of the day, racing in the 60-meter hurdles. The first-year athlete, competing in the fourth heat, posted a time of 8.36 seconds, placing 13th overall. With only the top eight advancing to Saturday's final, Stallone missed qualifying by just 0.16 seconds.
