Swarthmore, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team fell to No. 26 Swarthmore College, 7-0, in non-conference action on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens fell behind 1-0 after doubles play, dropping all three flights. The top duo of
Lorena Piegas and
Stephanie Untermeyer fell 6-2, while
Milagros Carbajal Diaz and
Alix Dry were defeated 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 pairing of
Julia Chiovitti and
Emma Eguia also came up short, falling 6-0.
In singles action, Dry battled in a tight first set at No. 1 singles but ultimately fell 7-5 before dropping the second set 6-3. The scores were reversed at No. 2, where Untermeyer lost the first set 6-3 and was edged 7-5 in the second. At No. 3 singles, Piegas was defeated 6-1, 6-0, while Eguia fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Carbajal Diaz and Chiovitti each lost their opening sets 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, before falling 6-3 and 6-1 in the second set.
