Ewing, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team opened competition at the three-day TCNJ Invitational on Thursday with the start of the decathlon and field events.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Connor Efinger led the Ducks in the decathlon, finishing sixth overall with 2,773 points after five events. His top performance came in the high jump, where he cleared 1.74 meters to place second and score 577 points. He also posted solid marks in the 100-meter dash (12.15, 622 points) and the long jump (5.83 meters, 550 points).Xavier McWilliams followed in ninth place with 2,647 points, highlighted by a second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 11.60 meters (582 points) and a strong 54.57 in the 400-meter dash (616 points).
 
Calvin Gibson placed 10th with 2,552 points, showing consistency across the board with a 1.59-meter clearance in the high jump (457 points) and a time of 55.61 in the 400 (575 points). James Johnson scored 2,378 points to place 13th, registering personal bests in both the 100m (12.04, 643 points) and the shot put (9.83m, 475 points).

Brandon Kiefer rounded out the Stevens contingent in 15th place with 1,878 points, competing in five events. Kiefer's standout performances came in the 100-meter dash, where he ran 11.40 for 774 points, and in the long jump, leaping 6.02 meters (591 points). In the men's javelin throw, senior Braedan Joyce delivered a personal best of 47.72 meters (156-06) to place 10th overall in Flight 1.
