York, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team sits in sixth place after Day One of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Championships.
The Ducks have totaled 9.5 points through the opening day. York leads the standings with 31.5 points, followed closely by Lebanon Valley with 30.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After five events in the decathlon,
Brandon Kiefer sits in third place with 3,075 points, holding an eight-point lead over Graison Michajluk of Lebanon Valley. Kiefer recorded the top mark in the long jump, reaching 6.24 meters and scoring 639 points.
Xavier McWilliams is currently sixth with 2,874 points, followed closely by
Connor Efinger (2,867) and
Calvin Gibson (2,685).
The Ducks opened strong in the relays, placing fourth in the 4x800-meter relay. The quartet of
Mick Barbi,
Caleb Stephen,
Jake Aylmer, and
Danny Jutras posted a time of 7:50.8. Graduate student
Liam Concannon added three points with a sixth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, clocking in at 32:17.3—nearly four seconds ahead of the seventh-place finisher.
In the pole vault, sophomore
Chris Persico tied for seventh with a clearance of 4.12 meters, matching York's Jonah Arnold. Matthew Schutz of Arcadia also cleared 4.12 meters but secured the higher finish with fewer attempts.
Braedan Joyce narrowly missed the scoring, placing ninth with a mark of 4.02 meters. In the hammer throw,
Brandon Fox led the Ducks with a 13th-place finish (43.09m).
Cooper Kinsley (40.43m) and
Manny Vega (39.18m) placed 19th and 22nd, respectively.

Day Two of the MAC Outdoor Championships begins at 9:15 a.m. Events on Friday include the conclusion of the decathlon, as well as the high jump, long jump, discus, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 4x100 relay, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, and 200-meter dash.
