HOBOKEN, NJ – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team trailed by 12 in the second quarter, led by 19 in the third, then withstood a late comeback attempt from Arcadia for a wild 63-52 win on Saturday afternoon in MAC Freedom play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Ducks went scoreless for the first 3:51 and fell behind 9-0,
Maya Abramson scored six of Stevens' nine points in the quarter, as the Knights held a 19-9 lead through the opening 10 minutes.
With the Arcadia lead fluctuating between nine and 12 early in the second half, the Ducks turned the game around with a 13-0 run over the final 6:47 of the half.
Isabella Duval and Abramson got things started with back-to-back three-pointers, and
Fiona O'Boyle followed with a layup, pulling Stevens within one possession, 25-22.
Emily Marinelli added a free throw, Abramson tied the game with a jumper, and an O'Boyle layup gave the Ducks their first lead of the game, 27-25, heading to the locker room.
The run eventually reached 23 straight as the Ducks scored the first 10 points of the third quarter, with
Leyla Castro contributing six of the 10. Arcadia finally put a stop to their extended scoreless run, but the Ducks immediately answered with another nine in a row – capped by back-to-back three-pointers from Castro and Duval, opening a 46-27 cushion. The lead remained 15, 51-36, entering the fourth, after a 42-17 advantage for the Ducks between the 2
nd and 3
rd quarters.
An Abramson layup pushed the lead to 17 early in the 4
th before the Knights pulled within eight, 53-45, with less than six minutes left. The Ducks made just one field goal the rest of the way but made 8 of 10 free throws, maintaining at least a six-point advantage to the final buzzer.

- O'Boyle set or matched a quartet of career highs with nine points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks
