Women's Basketball Topped by Arcadia in MAC Freedom Action

Glenside, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team outscored Arcadia University 45-37 in the second half but fell, 84-60, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom battle on Saturday afternoon.

Olivia Schubiger paced the Ducks (14-5, 5-3 MAC Freedom) with 22 points, while Hana Rhoades posted a game-high 23 for Arcadia (13-7, 6-2).

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Dorothy Loffredo and Audrey Kehoe registered early layups to tie the game at four, Arcadia held Stevens scoreless over the final 6:49 of the opening quarter, closing the frame on a 20-0 run. Schubiger snapped the drought with consecutive baskets to begin the second quarter, but the Knights responded with 15 straight points over the next four minutes. Stevens ended the half with the final four points, as Katherine Bogutsky converted a pair of free throws and Leyla Castro added a layup.

Bogutsky opened the third quarter with a three-pointer and added a free throw at the 6:07 mark to cap a 10-3 run. The teams traded baskets down the stretch before the sophomore closed the period with another triple off an assist from Schubiger. Schubiger scored the Ducks' first six points of the fourth quarter before Loffredo trimmed the deficit to 66-45 with a layup. Back-to-back baskets from Loffredo and Schubiger pulled Stevens within 19 with 2:37 remaining, but the Ducks were unable to close the gap further.
