Glenside, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team outscored Arcadia University 45-37 in the second half but fell, 84-60, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom battle on Saturday afternoon.
Olivia Schubiger paced the Ducks (14-5, 5-3 MAC Freedom) with 22 points, while Hana Rhoades posted a game-high 23 for Arcadia (13-7, 6-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED
After
Dorothy Loffredo and
Audrey Kehoe registered early layups to tie the game at four, Arcadia held Stevens scoreless over the final 6:49 of the opening quarter, closing the frame on a 20-0 run. Schubiger snapped the drought with consecutive baskets to begin the second quarter, but the Knights responded with 15 straight points over the next four minutes. Katherine Bogutsky converted a pair of free throws and
Leyla Castro added a layup.
Bogutsky opened the third quarter with a three-pointer and added a free throw at the 6:07 mark to cap a 10-3 run. The teams traded baskets down the stretch before the sophomore closed the period with another triple off an assist from Schubiger. Schubiger scored the Ducks' first six points of the fourth quarter before Loffredo trimmed the deficit to 66-45 with a layup. Back-to-back baskets from Loffredo and Schubiger pulled Stevens within 19 with 2:37 remaining, but the Ducks were unable to close the gap further.

- Schubiger recorded her third 20-point performance of the season, matching her career high with 22 points. The senior went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and shot 9-of-17 from the field.
- Bogutsky added 10 points off the bench, while Loffredo and Kehoe finished with eight apiece.
- Loffredo collected seven rebounds, tying Maya Abramson for the team lead.
