Men's Basketball's Big Second Half The Difference in 77-65 Win Over Delaware Valley

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team outscored Delaware Valley 46-34 in the second half behind a strong effort from beyond the three-point line, winning their ninth straight game Wednesday night, 77-65.

Harmehar Chhabra had 15 of his career-high 25 points in the first half and Tommy Scholl had 15 of his 22 in the second half for Stevens (15-7, 9-2).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Chhabra had the Ducks' first seven and 13 of their first 18 during an opening 20 minutes in which he hit 7-of-10 from the floor. Scholl pitched in seven, Kyle Maddison added four, Matt Leming had three, and Brendan Coughlan rounded out the Ducks' scorers with two. The teams went back and forth to the tune of a whopping 14 lead changes with five ties, as the teams headed to the locker room tied at 31-all after Stevens reeled oof a 9-2 spurt to end the half.

With momentum swinging back in their favor, Stevens opened the second half with 11 of the first 13 points (eight coming from Scholl), opening a 42-33 lead, the largest of the game to that point for either side. Strong shooting from the Ducks (7-for-11 from the floor, 2-for-3 from beyond the arc) kept them in front by at least seven under the 6:00 mark.

The Aggies finally pulled within five with 5:14 to go but drew no closer as Maddison added nine and Chhabra, after going scoreless the first 15 minutes of the second half, put in seven down the stretch as the Ducks made 10 of their final 12 from the free throw line in addition to finishing the second half 6-for-11 from beyond the arc.
