York, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swim team set a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship record in the 200-medley relay during the opening day of the Championships on Thursday.
Through four events, the Ducks sit in first place with 344 points. Misericordia is second with 323 points, followed by York in third with 203. Messiah (188) and Widener (176) round out the top five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The foursome of
Eszter Kiss,
Delaney Klaus,
Natalia Brunetti, and Adrianna Bertolotti opened the Championships by breaking the MAC Championship record in the 200-medley relay, posting a time of 1:45.16. The performance eclipsed the previous mark of 1:46.93, set by Messiah College in 2016.
Kiss continued her strong start to the meet by claiming Stevens' first individual victory of the Championships, winning the 500-freestyle. After taking first in the prelims by more than 11 seconds, Kiss repeated the feat in the finals, touching the wall in 5:03.85—nearly 11 seconds ahead of second place. Klaus added a runner-up finish in the 50-freestyle, placing second in 23.69, just 0.06 seconds shy of first.
Dora Dvorkin joined Kiss in the 500-freestyle "A" final, finishing sixth in 5:25.62.
In the 200 individual medley,
Gabby Sokolik placed sixth with a time of 2:13.48, followed closely by
Hanna Matheson in seventh at 2:15.20. Stevens placed four swimmers into the "B" final of the 500-freestyle, led by
Emery Fitzharris (5:20.35).
Julia McKinley (5:26.42),
Gabby Tyer (5:27.92), and
Abigail Rosingana (5:29.05) also competed in the event.
Megan Koek finished 12th in the 200-IM with a time of 2:21.89, while
Anjali Gupta placed 14th in 2:24.41. Bertolotti added a 12th-place finish in the 50-freestyle (25.53), with
Paige Bleckley placing 15th in 25.96.
Stevens capped the night with a victory in the "C" final of the 200-medley relay, as the quartet of Bleckley, Fitzharris, Sokolik, and
Ashley Settle touched the wall in 1:52.26.

Stevens continues competition at the MAC Championships on Friday, with prelims beginning at 9:30 a.m. and finals scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Events on day two include the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 medley relay.
