Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team upended Virginia Wesleyan University 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks claimed the doubles point by sweeping all three matches.
Max-William Kanz and
Renat Kramin earned a 6-2 triumph at the top of the lineup, while
Samvid Andhare and
Dhaivik Chenemilla picked up a 6-4 win at No. 2. The sweep was completed at No. 3, as
Elias Alkio and
Tristan Wroe were victorious by a 6-4 score.
Stevens continued its strong play in singles, going 5-1. Kanz tallied a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1, with Andhare following with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 2. Both the No. 3 and No. 4 flights went three sets. At No. 3, Kramin claimed the opening set 7-5 before dropping the second 6-3, then rebounded with a 10-6 win in the super tiebreak.
Chenemilla dropped the first set at No. 4 in a tiebreak before coming back with a 6-4 win to force a third. He matched Kramin with a 10-6 victory in the deciding tiebreak. Wroe sealed Stevens' final point of the afternoon at No. 5, notching a 7-5, 6-3 win. The Marlins registered their lone victory at No. 6, pulling out a three-set decision.
