Women's Track and Field Post Strong Showing At Big Apple Invitational

Staten Island, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's track and field team collected a trio of Top-3 finishes, including a 2-3 finish in the pole vault, plus two PRs during a busy Saturday at the Big Apple Invitational from the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Stephanie Ryazanova and Alexis Merola both cleared 2.95 meters in the pole vault, with Ryazanova doing so in one fewer attempt, giving her the bump to second.

Maggie Previglian tied for third in the high jump, but was the top finisher among non-Division I athletes, topped only by competitors from St. John's and Fordham.

In the weight throw, Anacarolina Ventura finished sixth and Claire Deatrick finished eighth, with Deatrick setting a PR with a top distance of 12.68 meters.

Elsewhere, Lauren Alley moved into the Top 5 in program history in the 400 meters, running a PR 1:00.74, fifth-fastest ever for a Duck and third-fastest since 2019.

UP NEXT
The Ducks will compete in two separate two-day events next Friday and Saturday: the Boston University-hosted David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Widener Indoor Classic.
