Hilton Head, S.C. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team defeated Macalester College and SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday in South Carolina.
The Ducks blanked both Macalester and Oneonta by identical 7-0 scores.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks swept all three doubles flights against the Scots to earn the doubles point.
Tristan Wroe and
Elias Alkio posted a shutout at No. 3 doubles, winning 6-0.
Max-William Kanz and
Renat Kramin at No. 1, along with
Samvid Andhare and
Dhaivik Chenemilla at No. 2, each earned 6-4 victories to seal the point.
Chenemilla battled at No. 4 singles, needing a third-set tiebreak to secure the win. He took the first set 6-3 before the Scots evened the match with a 6-1 decision in the second. The sophomore closed it out with a 10-8 win in the tiebreak.
Johnny Haase earned a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6, while Wroe won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.
The Ducks continued to pile up wins in singles, as Kanz recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the top of the lineup and Andhare followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2. Kramin also controlled play at No. 3, earning a 6-1, 6-2 triumph.
It was more of the same against the Red Dragons, as Stevens once again swept all three doubles matches. Kanz and Kramin blanked their opponents 6-0 at No. 1, while Alkio and Wroe earned a 6-1 win at No. 3. Andhare and Chenemilla completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory at No. 2.
Stevens did not drop a set in singles, highlighted by a pair of 6-1, 6-0 wins from Alkio at No. 5 and Haase at No. 6. Batra earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4, while Kanz picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1. Chenemilla (6-3, 6-2) and Wroe (6-2, 6-1) rounded out the singles victories to complete the clean sweep.
