Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The No. 11 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team opened Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play with an 18-4 win over King's on Wednesday night.
Four Ducks had multi-goal games while a dozen Ducks scored in all.
How It Happened
Stevens made a definitive opening statement, going up 4-0 just past two minutes off the opening faceoff, with Adam DeCrisofaro opening the scoring off a feed from
Matthew Pergola, who in turn scored the next three goals just 20 seconds apart. After an 8+ minute scoring drought,
Will Labartino,
Tyler Holland,
Blake Creamer,
Jackson Penn, and
Jack Tenaglia all added a goal apiece in the final 3:03 as Stevens (7-2, 1-0 MACF) ended the quarter leading 9-0.
Kevin Burns made it 10-0 early in the second quarter and Miles du bois made it 11-0 less than two minutes later. After King's finally cracked the scoresheet, Burns added his second of the day in the final seconds of the half. Stevens finished the half outshooting King's 51-9 with a 14-1 faceoff advantage.
Things slowed in the third quarter, scoring-wise, as Pergola and
Luke Shaffer tacked on for the Ducks, with the Monarchs added one in the final minute. In the fourth, after nearly six scoreless minutes to start,
Andrew Becton (twice),
Danny Winkler, and Shaffer added the final four goals of a night dominated by the Ducks from start to finish.
