Gettysburg, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team ran its winning streak to seven with a 6-1 victory over Gettysburg College Sunday afternoon.
The Ducks improved to 11-1 on the season after claiming the doubles point and winning five of six singles flights.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens took a 1-0 lead after doubles, winning two of the three flights.
Stephanie Untermeyer and
Gigi Arenas posted a 6-2 win at No. 2, while
Alix Dry and
Kaylee Hobbick earned a 6-2 victory at No. 3. Gettysburg picked up its lone doubles point at the top flight, where
Wei-Wei Lai and
Lorena Piegas fell 6-3.
The Ducks secured the match in singles play, taking five of six flights. Dry battled to a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 1, while Hobbick added a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 5. Untermeyer earned a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 3, and Lai was dominant at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Arenas rounded out the scoring with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6. The Bullets' lone point came at No. 2 singles, where Piegas was bested 6-0, 6-1.
