Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader From FDU-Florham, Run Winning Streak to 10

Madison, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team swept a third straight MAC Freedom doubleheader Sunday at FDU-Florham, winning 13-3 and 5-2, running their winning streak to 10 games.

Stevens (26-13, 14-7) followed up a doubleheader sweep of Arcadia and a series sweep of King's with another series-clinching sweep on Sunday against the Devils.

How It Happened – Game 1
The Ducks provided starting pitcher David Finch ample run support before he even stepped on the mound. After loading the bases with one out, Garret Wolf singled in Adam Barrington, who'd reached on a fielder's choice. Quinton Sterling followed with an RBI groundout, then Wolf scored on a failed pickoff, putting the Ducks up 3-0.

Following an FDU run in the first, Stevens blew the doors off with an 8-spot in the third inning of the seven-inning game. Jackson Wein followed a Barrington single and Sterling hit-by-pitch with a Barrington-scoring double. Vinnie Stigliano followed a Veer Wadhwani walk with a two-run single and Dylan Fishbough followed with an infield single, plating Wadhwani. After Chip Krese was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Barrington singled in Fishbough and Stigliano, then Zitko capped the frame with a single scoring Krese and Barrington (who'd stolen second).

Stigliano made it 12-1 on a fielder's choice in the fourth and Adam Kobayashi drove in Ethan Simpson (doubled) with a groundout in the fifth for the Ducks' final run of the game.

How It Happened – Game 2
The Ducks again struck for multiple runs in the first. Krese and Barrington set the table with a single and a walk, then, following a double steal, Wolf reached on a run-scoring error, with Sterling plating Barrington with a fielder's choice.

Leading 2-1 heading to the third, Zitko made it 3-1 with a leadoff home run. That score held into the fifth when Krese led off with a single, took second on a balk, and scored on a Barrington single.

The Devils got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, but drew no closer as the Ducks took advantage of walks to Zitko and Wolf in the eighth, followed by a Wein hit-by-pitch, and an Edward "E.J." Balewitz Jr. walk that forced home Zitko.

The Devils brought the tying run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth, but Dawson Guerard closed out a 2.1 inning save without yielding a run.
