HOBOKEN, N.J. – Senior Guiseppe Incitti (River Edge, NJ/Bergen Catholic) and sophomore Josh Ottinger (Schencksville, PA/Parkland) scored first-half goals to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 4-1 win over SUNY-Old Westbury on Friday evening in a Skyline Conference men’s soccer game at DeBaun Field.
Stevens earned its third straight win, all in Skyline Conference play. The Ducks improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Old Westbury falls to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in Skyline play.
Incitti and Ottinger scored goals in a 3:31 span in the first half to give Stevens a two-goal advantage. Incitti collected a loose ball outside the top of the penalty area and sent a drive from 20 yards past Old Westbury goalkeeper Kwadwo Ofori and into the lower right corner at 19:11. Ottinger then finished off a cross from freshman Brian Marks (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) for the eventual game-winning goal at 22:42.
The Panthers trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the 40th minute when Abdul Sanni lofted a shot from 30 yards that sailed over the head of Stevens goalkeeper Sean Stevenson.
The Ducks added an insurance goal, extending their lead to 3-1 when senior Ethan Jayson (Canon City, CO/Canon City) headed in a corner kick off the foot of Ottinger at the 55:33 mark. Freshman Chris Barsky (Council Rock, PA/Council Rock) also scored for Stevens in the second half, heading in a long pass from freshman Collin Clatonoff (Phoenix, AZ/Dessert Vista) at 71:55.
Stevens held a commanding 27-2 advantage in shots and a 10-0 bulge in corner kicks. Stevenson earned the win for the Ducks without making a save. Ofori stopped 11 shots for the Panthers.
Stevens returns to action on Monday, October 7, when it hosts New Jersey City University in a non-conference game beginning at 7 p.m.
