HOBOKEN, NJ – Sophomore forward Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown Area) scored four goals and sophomore forward Rebecca Quinn (Damascus, MD/Damascus) added a school-record five assists to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 7-0 win over Centenary College in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday at DeBaun Field.

Barnhart now has 22 goals and seven assists for a school record 51 points this season.  She had 49 points as a freshman, giving her 100 career points in just two seasons.  She owns school records for career goals (43) and points in just 36 career games.

Barnhart scored the first two goals for Stevens (12-6-1) with Quinn assisting both times.  Quinn fed a pass through the middle to a streaking Barnhart who scored to the lower left corner at the 19:27 mark to put the Ducks ahead to stay.  Later in the half, Centenary goalkeeper Michelle Burke couldn’t contain a Stevens shot, and Quinn passed the loose ball across the goal mouth to Barnhart who scored from close range at 36:47.  Less than five minutes later, Quinn set up sophomore Milia George (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) for a goal at 41:06 to give Stevens a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Barnhart and senior midfielder Melissa Shankweiler (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) had two goals each in the second half as the Ducks extended their lead.  Quinn assisted on both of Shankweiler’s goals – a corner kick for a header in the 51st minute and a short pass off an indirect kick in the 68th minute.

Stevens held a 24-9 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.  Centenary (9-7-1) received eight saves from Michelle Burke.  Junior goalkeeper Rommy Guevara (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) stopped three shots to earn the shutout for Stevens.
