Big Second Half Lifts Yeshiva Past Stevens in Men's Basketball, 65-43

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Yeshiva University overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to record a 65-43 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Monday night at the Max Stern Athletic Center. The game was the Skyline Conference opener for both teams.

Yeshiva earns its second straight win, improving to 2-1 (1-0 Skyline). Stevens falls to 1-3 (0-1 Skyline).

Details of the game are limited, but Stevens held a 29-20 lead at halftime. The Ducks were 10-for-10 from the free-throw line with sophomore guard Jimmy Dominkewicz (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) going 6-for-6. Yeshiva struggled offensively in the opening half as it misfired on all six attempts from 3-point range.

The Maccabees found their range in the second half as they outscored the Ducks 45-14 after the break. Yeshiva converted on 15 of 24 shots (62.5 percent) in the second half, including 6-for-8 from 3-point range and 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. Sophomore guard Benji Golbert, who had 18 points, was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Senior guard Jack Yulzary led all scorers with 23 points while collecting seven steals.

Stevens did not get to the foul line in the second half. The Ducks shot just 27.2 percent (6-for-22) in the second half, including 2-for-11 from 3-point range. Stevens had two players finish in double figures with 10 points each. Junior forward Dan Jordan (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) had 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting while freshman guard Garrick Todechine (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunny Slope), making his first career start, had 10 points and four rebounds in 34 minutes.

Stevens is back in action on Wednesday, December 3, with a 7:30 p.m. game at Lehman College in the Bronx.
