Men's Basketball Beaten by The College of New Jersey, 91-42

EWING, N.J. – Juniors Derick Grant and Kyle Burke along with sophomore Scott Findlay scored 16 points apiece as The College of New Jersey rolled to a 91-42 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Monday night in a non-conference men’s basketball game at Packer Hall.

The College of New Jersey (4-4) jumped out to a 42-19 lead.  Stevens (1-5) trailed 11-10 following a 3-pointer by freshman guard Garrick Todechine (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunny Slope) with 15:58 left in the first half.  The Lions took control with a 19-6 run over the next 11:23.  Findlay led the way with six points, including the first four while freshman Mike Snyder added five.

The College of New Jersey continued its onslaught in the second half as it opened the period with a 27-6 run in the first nine minutes.  Grant had 12 of his 16 points during that stretch.

The Lions shot 52.4 percent (33-for-63) for the game and made six of their 12 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc.  The College of New Jersey also held a commanding 43-24 rebounding advantage as Findlay recorded a game-high 11 rebounds.

Stevens was led by sophomore guard Ryan Kander (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Xaverian) who finished with a game-high and career-high 18 points.  His previous high was an 11-point effort in an 82-81 win over Kings Point on February 4 last season.  Junior forward Dan Jordan (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) added 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.  Sophomore forward Mike Collins (Bronx, N.Y./Trinity Pawling) had six points, six rebounds and three blocks.

The Ducks were held to just 34.1 percent shooting.  Kander was 7-for-13, but the rest of the team was just 8-for-31.
