Men's Lacrosse Drops 10-5 Decision to No. 19 Eastern Connecticut

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Sophomore attack Brian Hebron scored three goals and added two assists at No. 19 Eastern Connecticut State University earned a 10-5 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday night in a men’s lacrosse game at DeBaun Field.

Eastern Connecticut (3-2) scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed.  Senior attack Marc DiGiovanni scored just 56 seconds into the game.  Senior midfielder Andre Smith (12:40) and Hebron (11:34) also scored in the opening four minutes as the Warriors took control early.

Stevens (3-4) suffered its fourth loss to a nationally ranked team.  The Ducks scored twice in the final minute of the first quarter to pull within one goal.  Freshman midfielder Rob Leming (Princeton Junction, N.J./Peddie School) and freshman attack Tom DiLemmo (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) scored in a span of 24 seconds.

A goal by senior defenseman Adam Baker (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) pulled Stevens within 4-3 with 9:34 left in the second quarter.  Eastern Connecticut scored the final three goals of the quarter – two by senior midfielder Kristopher McQuarrie – to open up a 7-3 halftime lead.

The Stevens men’s lacrosse team resumes Knickerbocker Conference play on Saturday, March 29, with a 1 p.m. game at Montclair State.
