HOBOKEN, N.J.—Brittny Boyd tallied two goals to lead College of New Jersey past the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer 3-0 on Wednesday night at DeBaun Field. With the loss Stevens moves to 13-1-1, while College of New Jersey improves to 14-1-1.
Both teams were ranked No.1 in the Division III Regional Poll today, Stevens in the New York Region and College of New Jersey in the Mid-Atlantic.
The Lions netted their first two goals of the game just over one minute apart in the first half. Boyd scored the team’s first goal off a rebound at the 6:40 mark. Bernadette Coyle added a goal at 7:50 to increase College of New Jersey’s lead to 2-0.
Boyd netted her second goal of the game with three minutes remaining in the second half.
Sophomore Erica Midttveit (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) played a solid game in goal for the Ducks and recorded 10 saves.
Senior midfielder Kim Mirra (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) has now played and started in 77 career games, which ties her for the record at Stevens.
The Ducks will return to action on Saturday, October 23 when they host Manhattanville in a Skyline Conference match up at 1 p.m.
