Women's Basketball earns third straight win; Ducks defeat Lehman, 70-43

HOBOKEN, N.J. –Junior Jenna Gambino (Staten Island, N.Y./St. John Villa Academy) continued to lead the Ducks and netted 17 points to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s basketball team past Lehman, 70-43, in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Stevens improves to 6-1 on the season, while Lehman falls to 4-2.

Leading 11-9 in the first half, the Ducks took advantage of a 20-0 run in the span of 10 minutes to jump out to a 31-9 lead with just under four minutes remaining.  Gambino netted nine of her 17 points during that stretch.

In the second half, Stevens led by as many as 32 points, 55-23, en route to the 70-43 victory.

The Ducks shot 41.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free throw line in the game.

Two other players scored in double digits for Stevens.  Freshman forward Rebecca Baldyga (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) netted a season-high 11 points and junior guard Rachel Ostroff (North Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day) scored a season-high 10 points.  Freshman forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo./Longmont) pulled down a game-leading eight rebounds for the Ducks.

Stevens will be back in action on Wednesday, December 8 when it travels to Scranton for a 6 p.m. game.
