Men's Volleyball cruises to 3-0 win over Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. - Junior outside hitter Brian Woodworth (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine Prep) had 12 kills and seven digs to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-18) win over Ramapo College on Tuesday night.

Stevens, ranked fifth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III coaches poll, improves to 15-2 overall and 3-0 in the NECVA Metro Division.  Ramapo falls to 7-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Woodworth had a strong offensive performance with 12 kills and just two errors in 19 attempts (.526) while playing only two games. No Stevens player played more than two games. Freshman middle hitter Scott Stoner (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) was nearly flawless with nine kills and no errors in 12 attempts.  Sophomore Greg Higgins (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore West) and freshman Jonathan Williams (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) finished with eight kills apiece.  Senior setter Gerard Aro (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) had 30 assists in two games.

Ramapo received 17 kills from senior Kris Fraser.

Stevens is back in action on Saturday, February 14, with a noon match at New Jersey City University.
