Men’s Volleyball’s Schmid, Hoke, Stiemer Recognized with AVCA All-America Nods

First All-American Honors For All Three

Louisville, Ky. – Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball student-athletes Ryan Schmid, Tyler Hoke, and Julius Stiemer were all named Division III All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday.

Less than a week after all three were named First Team All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), Schmid earned AVCA First Team selection, while Hoke and Stiemer were both named Honorable Mention following standout 2026 seasons from all three.

Entering the season with just 107 kills in 60 sets in his first two seasons, Schmid went off this season, finishing 2026 with a team-high 255 kills while hitting an efficient .359. The Easton, Conn. native won MAC Tournament MVP Honors after averaging 14.5 kills with 7.5 digs while hitting .439 in wins over Stevenson and Messiah, then finished with 11 kills ,14 digs, and eight total blocks in the NCAA Championships match against MIT.

Hoke proved to be a model of consistency in the middle (on both sides of the ball) once again. The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native averaged more than 1.3 kills per set, hit at least .0.382, AND recorded at least 0.79 blocks per set for the fourth straight year. He put away at least seven kills in seven matches and recorded at least one block per set 11 times, including all three postseason matches, during which time he totaled 19 blocks in 12 sets.

Stiemer averaged 3.25 kills per set, averaging at least four kills per set in nine matches during the year, totaling 70 kills over the final five matches & 19 sets of the year after opening the year with 69 kills in 18 sets over the first six matches of the year. The grad transfer also brought a powerful serve that yielded 32 aces, the most in a single for the program since 2023.

The 2026 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Men's Division III Volleyball All-America Committee.
