PURCHASE, N.Y. – Second baseman John Previti doubled in center fielder Michael Sabatello in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Manhattanville College to a 3-2 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Monday in a Skyline Conference baseball game.

Manhattanville (15-15, 8-7 Skyline) scored single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to rally for the win.  Stevens falls to 17-13 overall and 10-5 in conference play.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Manhattanville shortstop Dan Manfrates struck out, but reached base on a passed ball to open the inning.  After Manfrates was erased by Sabatello’s fielder’s choice grounder, Previti delivered the winning hit – a double down the right-field line, scoring Sabatello from first.

Trailing 2-1, Manhattanville tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Starting pitcher Mark Barrar reached on an error to open the inning.  Catcher C.J. Howard followed with an RBI double.

Stevens scored twice in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.  Senior first baseman Ben Shaw (Wayne, Pa./Upper Merion) had an RBI single, scoring freshman pitcher Adam Sandt (Allentown, Pa./William Allen).  Junior left fielder Mike Carrano (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington) then scored on a double steal.

Barrar (2-1) earned the win for Manhattanville with a complete game.  He allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out five.  Sandt pitched into the eighth inning for Stevens and gave up two runs (one earned).  He scattered seven hits while striking out three and walking two.

Stevens is back in action on Wednesday, April 21, with a 3:30 p.m. game at Kean.
