Men’s Basketball falls short to Brooklyn College, 72-68

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Sophomore forward Tim Williams (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) netted 16 points and pulled-down 11 rebounds, but the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s basketball team dropped a 72-68 decision to Brooklyn College on Monday night at the Canavan Arena.

With the loss Stevens falls to 4-7, while Brooklyn improves to 6-5.

With the Ducks down by 14 entering the second half, a 15-1 run over 5:51 tied the score at 44 apiece.  In the next 10 minutes, Stevens and Brooklyn exchanged the lead three times.  With Stevens up by one with 6:35 remaining, Damek Mair scored four straight points to give Brooklyn a 57-56 lead it would not relinquish.  The Bridges pulled away with three minutes remaining in the game with Jeff Jean-Baptiste scoring six of the team's 10 points.

In the first half Brooklyn took advantage of a 21-6 run to close out the half leading 41-29.

For Stevens, freshman Waleed Farid (Woodside, N.Y./Stuyvesant) had 15 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore guard Stephen Peters (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y./Storm King) contributed 11.

Stevens is back in action on Wednesday, January 12, when it travels to Kings Point for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
