Men's Basketball cruises past Centenary, 93-40; Ducks improve to 3-1 in Skyline Conference play

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Freshman guard Waleed Farid (Woodside, N.Y./Stuyvesant) scored 15 points in just 13 minutes as Stevens Institute of Technology cruised to a 93-40 win over Centenary College on Saturday afternoon in a Skyline Conference men’s basketball game at the Canavan Arena.

Stevens (6-7, 3-1 Skyline) scored the first 16 points of the game and was never threatened.  Farid scored five of the Ducks’ first nine points.  Centenary (0-13, 0-7 Skyline) finally got on the board when Justin DeFeo scored on a jumper with 12:28 left in the half.  The Ducks extended their lead to 49-20 by halftime.

Fourteen different Stevens players scored with all 16 players grabbing at least one rebound.  No Duck player played more than 16 minutes.

Stevens, which shot a season-high 55.9 percent from the floor (38-for-68), also received 12 points from junior guard Jimmy Dominkewicz (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park).  Junior guard Ryan Kander (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Xaverian) and freshman forward Joseph Ayodele (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos de Niza) also finished in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Junior guard Andre Harris (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) led Centenary with 11 points while senior forward Brian Sherlock (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) scored 10 points off the bench.  Junior forward Omar Davis (Newark, N.J./Our Lady of Good Counsel) pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Stevens returns to action on Monday, January 17, when it travels to Riverdale, N.Y., for a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference game against Mount Saint Vincent.
