Stevens Women's Basketball begins 2005 with 84-18 win over Caltech

PASADENA, Calif. –Freshman forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo./Longmont) netted 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s basketball team past Caltech, 84-18, in a non-conference game on Thursday night.

With the win, Stevens improves to 7-2 on the season, while Caltech falls to 1-9.

The Ducks took advantage of an 18-0 run in the first 11 minutes of the game to jump out to a commanding 37-11 halftime lead.  Freshman guard Jackie Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn./Suffield Academy), who had a game-high six steals and a season-high 12 points, led Stevens with 8 points in the first half.

In the second half, the Ducks were led by Enright and junior guard Rachel Ostroff (N. Miami Fla./Miami Country Day) who tallied 15 and eight points respectively.  Ostroff totaled a season-high 15 points in the game. 

Junior forward Jenna Gambino (Staten Island, N.Y./St. John Academy) also scored in double digits for Stevens with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Jessica Roberts led the Beavers with 8 points in the game.

The Ducks return to action on the road on Saturday, January 8 when they face the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
