Women's Basketball drops a 68-52 decision to Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. - Freshman forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo./Longmont) led Stevens Institute of Technology with a game-high 23 points and freshman guard Jackie Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) fell one rebound short of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, but the Ducks dropped a 68-52 decision to Chapman on Sunday afternoon.  The game completes a three-game West Coast trip for the Ducks who will return home on Saturday, January 15.

With the loss, Stevens falls to 7-4, while Chapman improves to 14-2 with its 10th consecutive win.

With the Ducks trailing by two, 12-10, a 10-0 run gave the Panthers a 22-10 lead with 4:48 remaining in the first half.  Enright netted 12 points and Stevens shot 38.9% from the field, but Chapman held a 25-16 advantage going into the break.

Chapman took its biggest lead of the game with 13 minutes left in the second half when freshman guard Lauren Kamiyama completed a four-point play to extend the Panther advantage to 16 points. Kamiyama led the Panthers with 20 points, including three 3-pointers and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line. Brenda Gallardo also made three 3-pointers on her way to 13 points, while senior Gayle Sonoda reached double-digits in scoring for the first time this season with 11 points and recorded eight assists for the second time in three games.

The Ducks will return to action on Thursday, January 13 when they travel to Mount Saint Mary for their first Skyline contest of the season.  Game time is set for 6 p.m.
