EWING, N.J.– The College of New Jersey’s men’s tennis team collected a 7-0
win on Saturday over Stevens Institute of Technology. With the loss, Stevens drops to 0-2, while TCNJ is now 2-1 on the young season.
The Lions’ top doubles tandem of Ryan Carty and Corey Ball recorded an 8-3 win over Steven’s junior Steve Su (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) and
freshman Ricky Bawa (North Bergen, NJ/Dwight-Englewood). The Lion duo
now stands at 9-1 on the year together.
At first singles, Carty who is ranked 18 regionally, collected the victory
over Bawa, 6-2, 6-2 and improved to 10-2 on the year in singles play.
TCNJ’s freshman Eric Ferriere was a winner for the Lions at No. 4 singles, besting Steven’s junior Yuriy Steimakh
(Carlsdatd, NJ/Becton Regional), helping him remain unbeaten on the year
in dual singles play at 3-0.
Stevens is back in action when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. They will face Westminster in their first match on March 21 at Noon.
