Women's Basketball advances in Skyline Tourney with 72-42 win over Centenary

Junior Jenna Gambino helped the Ducks earn a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament semifinal-round with a season-high 26 points.

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Junior forward Jenna Gambino (Staten Island, N.Y./St. John Villa Academy) scored a season-high 26 points to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 72-42 win over Centenary on Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference Tournament quarterfinal-round game at the Canavan Arena.

Stevens (18-8) advances to the semifinals where it will face the winner of the Farmingdale State - Old Westbury game.  Centenary closes its season at 8-17.

With the Ducks only leading by two, a string of nine straight points gave Stevens an 11-point lead 10 minutes into the first half.  A 9-0 run in the span of 4:53 gave the Ducks a 20-point advantage with 5:10 remaining on the clock.  Stevens held a 36-11lead entering the break.  The Ducks shot an impressive 57 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line.  The Cyclones were limited to 11 points (15 percent) in the half.

Stevens jumped out to its biggest lead of the game, 55-24 halfway through the second half with freshman forward Jacque Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) contributing 15 of her 17 points. 

Freshman forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo./Longmont) chipped in 11 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for Stevens.

Freshman guard Heather Domotor led the Cyclones with 12 points and senior guard Solaris Ortiz added 10.
